Downriver from Hopkins Falls
Standing at the lookout, gazing downriver, I felt like I was in bucolic England. The waterfall crashed behind me and no doubt the famous eels swirled below. The eels of these waters migrate thousands of kilometres all the way to Vanuatu! I painted this from a photo I took on a school excursion. The figures are some of my past students.
